Poland in da house! Wojtek Urbanski is an aspiring young musician from Warsaw. The student of African cultures and languages started producing HipHop beats in 2002 for some of his rapping friends. But when being introduced to an album of the Cinematic Orchestra he got struck with fascination. Their rhythmic patterns opened his mind for a new musical style. Soon he left HipHop behind and started concentrating on nu jazz and digging deeper and deeper back to its traditional roots in the 60s and 70s. Nowadays he names jazz heroes like Herbie Hancock (Sextant, Crossings, Head Hunters), Miles Davis (Live Evil, Bitches Brew), Wheather Report and Sun Ra as his main influences.

On his first outing on Compost Records Wojtek offers two fine future jazz tunes – one with a catchy violin sample over a broken beat the other in a more relaxed bar mood. On the remix side of things he gets support by two of Polands most renowned contemporary producers grafting this record with an all star line up. Maximilian Skiba makes the Violet Violin look good on the dancefloor, building a stomping Nu Disco track around some funkdified keys. Envee is one half of the acclaimed producer duo Innocent Sorcerers, making mad noise with their releases on Raw Fusion and last years Koop remix. His Ponglish Dub Remix is like a broken beat journey to Deep Bass Nine…
