about

Compost boss Michael Reinboth has nothing but praises for the exciting music of Native Force. "Music Box blew me away when I first heard it and I have rarely heard such an energetic good quality electrified and rough tech-jazz record in the last ten years”, says Reinboth. Could be an electro-jazz future classic. The track "Music Box” was listed in Gilles Peterson's playlist in Straight No Chaser, and seen in Jazzanova playlist as well. Listen carefully to the track after "Music Box” called "Rain”. It is one of these beautiful, deep moody downbeat moments, which are quiet rare nowadays. And "Chase” is a quirky percussive house-tune with lots of live elements played by Simon Donohue (Native Force)

Native Force (a.k.a. Simon Donohue) started producing music at the age of 14 using 4 track tape machines, guitars and drum machines. At 18 he landed a job as a recording engineer at a commercial recording studio. From there he entered the world of electronic music. He soon joined forces with Andy Smith and formed the Sunrise Society which went on to produce a number of Detroit Techno style EP’s on London’s Pacific Records. In 96 Simon went solo and started producing Drum’n’Bass under the name of Odyssey. His first D&B track “Expressions” was released on 720 records/ Logical Progression 2. “Expressions” quickly gained anthem status being played to death by the likes of Fabio, Bukem and Blame.
